Proceeds from the Pancake Breakfast and All-Classes Reunion go to fund the Putnam City Alumni Association Newsletter mailings and to the Putnam City Alumni Association Scholarship Funds.

| Gary attended Putnam City Schools throughout his childhood (12 years), graduating from Putnam City High School in 1959. He excelled in athletics, receiving the designation of "All-American" in football, and receiving a full football scholarship to the University of Oklahoma. There he sustained an extreme knee injury, requiring that the knee be completely rebuilt. With the knee being in a weakened condition, he felt sure that an injury would happen again, so he completed his Bachelors of Education Degree in History and Coaching, graduating in 1963 from the University of Central Oklahoma. He received a Masters Degree in Public School Administration from that same University in 1970. Immediately upon completing his Bachelors Degree, he was hired by Putnam City Schools as a teacher and football coach at Western Oaks Junior High, a new school just opening that year. Five years later he was given the job as the first football coach at Putnam City West High School, another new school just opening. The second year the school was open the P.C. West football team won the Conference Championship with Gary as head coach, assisted by other great coaches he had hired: Mike Little, Charles Kimbrough, and Buddy Sanders. Gary was named "Coach of the Year". After receiving his Masters Degree, he was hired as Principal of Western Oaks Junior High. The following year (1972) at the young age of 32, he became Principal of Putnam City West High School, a position which he held for 19 years.
